아테네오는 1859년 스페인 신부들에 의해 세워졌으며,

필리핀 내 예수회(The Society of Jesus)의 역사만큼이나 오랜 전통을 가지고 있는 대학교입니다.

 

필리핀의 영웅이자 국민적 지도자인 ‘호세 리잘＇이 문학사 학위를 이수한 대학교로도 알려져 있으며,

학비가 비싸 대부분 필리핀의 부유한 가정의 자녀들이 재학하고 있습니다.

 

대학 자체가 유명하지만 그중에서도 법학, 경영학, 신문방송학, 건축학, IT 등의 학과가 유명합니다.
